Visited by European explorers in the 16th century and site of one of the largest Native American villages, Goleta has been home to ranching, agriculture, the military, and oil and gas production. Today, this family-friendly community adjacent to Santa Barbara boasts high-tech firms; the sprawling University of California, Santa Barbara campus; and the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport.
With modest single-family homes, an abundance of condominiums, and a scattering of gated enclaves, Goleta encompasses approximately 26 square miles and hosts a population of around 55,000 residents. The quiet town is known for supporting and promoting its schools, churches and community organizations, as well as for its family-friendly parks, restaurants and other amenities.
